Mike Mizanin, better known to countless wrestling fans as The Miz, has been on a fitness journey this year. In an Instagram photo shared this week, the WWE star revealed the results of his four-month transformation—including shredded six-pack abs—and spoke about the hard work and dedication it took to get here.
“I set out on a journey to not only get ripped, but to get healthier,” he wrote in the caption. “I’ve never been a guy who enjoyed the gym. I hate getting started, but once I’m in there, I’m locked in and when I’m done I’m always glad I did it.”
Mizanin went on to explain that between January 8 to April 11, 2021, he lost a total of 14 pounds, dropping from 220 pounds to 206 pounds, due to a combination of overhauling his nutrition and putting renewed energy into his physical fitness. He also praised fitness coach Matt Blank and performance chef Mary Shenouda for helping maintain his focus and dedication, both in his gluten, dairy and soy-free diet, and his intensive training regime.
His goal, he added, was to ensure he remains in peak physical condition so that he can keep his professional wrestling career going for as long as possible.
“I’m doing my best to make sure I can continue to do my job at the highest level for many years to come,” he said. “This routine for 3 months has now turned into a habit I want to keep. I love the way I look and feel. There are tough days where I just want to eat like crap, and honestly I’ll indulge. I know there are no short cuts. You have to put in the work for the results you want. There is no secret drink or pill that’s going to get you ripped. It takes work and lots of it. Find a group that motivates you, find your goal and PUT IN THE WORK.”
