Sam Heughan Posted a Shirtless Photo While Challenging Fans to Work Out
Scottish actor Sam Heughan has been staying busy while stuck at home by keeping up with his personal fitness, crushing a bodyweight workout and sharing some thirsty evidence of his pumped, perspiring pectorals on Instagram.
“These bodyweight workouts are kicking my but!!!” He wrote, tagging in his charitable health and wellness campaign My Peak Challenge, and encouraging his followers to try out the workout programs.
Heughan, who can be currently seen starring in Bloodshot opposite Vin Diesel, founded My Peak Challenge as a way for people to “live healthier, happier and more balanced lives while raising funds to change lives.” The organization recently launched a free of charge 30-day social distancing challenge to encourage people to practice self-isolating and flatten the curve, while staying active.
While working out at home is important for both physical and mental health, it’s possible that Heughan is also training for his next big role when quarantine ends: he recently told Esquire that he is the bookie’s favorite to play James Bond when Daniel Craig steps down after No Time to Die, and revealed that he even got pretty close to playing the part back in 2006. “I actually have auditioned for James Bond back when they were rebooting Bond 21,” he said. “When Daniel Craig came on board, they were talking about making him younger.”
There’s a whole stack of celebs who would love a chance to play 007, from Idris Elba to Henry Golding to Harry Styles to Emilia Clarke — but given the character’s Scottish roots (as revealed in 2012’s Skyfall), Heughan may have an advantage, saying to Esquire: “I mean, we want a Scottish James bond, don’t we?”
