The Fitness Routine Behind Lady Gaga’s Washboard Abs
Lady Gaga totally dominated the Grammys in 2019. She took home two awards for her songs “Shallow” and “Joanne,” but her super-fit abs deserve some recognition too. She showed them off last night at a Grammys after-party, where she wore nothing but fishnets and lingerie, reports Harper’s Bazaar.
The singer looked AMAZING and probably has all her fans wondering: How does she keep her body so dang fierce?
1. She has a personal trainer.
Gaga works with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak to help her get shredded. His other celeb clients include Katy Perry, Adam Levine, Megan Fox, and Ariana Grande.
2. She has an intense cardio and strength routine.
In 2012, Pasternak told Glamour that he has Gaga follow his quick and efficient 25-minute circuit workout three days a week, and cardio for 30 minutes two days a week. “Gaga doesn’t love to work out, but she likes how efficient this method is,” he said. “Your heart rate stays up, so you burn more calories in less time.”
3. She loves yoga.
According to Us Weekly, Gaga is a huge fan of yoga and “does it whenever she can, not just for the physical side but for the mental side as well.”
4. She’s a fan of gyrotonics.
“Gyro class, not the Greek sandwich kind!! ?” Lady Gaga captioned a workout photo leading up to her role in American Horror Story: Hotel. In the image, she’s using a “Gyrotoner” machine, which is used in gyrotonics training—a method that uses similar principles as yoga to “increase range of motion, improve strength and movement efficiency” the website explains.
And based on her Instagram feed, Gaga is all about toning her core with this method.
5. She loves getting active outdoors.
Whether she’s riding horses or taking scenic hikes, Gaga loves taking her fitness outside, at least according to her Instagram.
6. She eats healthy.
According to People, Gaga’s personal chef (and best friend from childhood) Bo O’Connor helps her stay healthy when on the road by making lots of salads. “She definitely will always have a salad throughout the day whether it’s for lunch or dinner,” said O’Connor. “The salad can be different and change; it doesn’t always have to be super lettuce-based, rather it can have other components that are a little bit more satisfying.”
And she loves smoothies. “She likes natural based smoothies…vegan with coconut, coconut water, all fresh, and she tries to be very good at that on tour.”
7. But she also indulges on occasion.
Gaga has shared some of her fave treats on Instagram, including fried chicken and bacon. Hey, it’s all about balance, right?
