The Robert Koch Institute warns that The wave of Flu 2020 los rolls

Due to the rising number of Influenza cases in Germany has begun, according to the weekly report of the Robert Koch Institute and of the working group on Influenza, officially, the flu wave.

Since the beginning of the current flu season beginning in October of 2019 have already been infected, nearly 8.600 people with the Influenza.

“Under the condition that the Influenza activity and Influenza-positive rate is also increased in the third calendar week in 2020, or rise further, the flu wave in Germany, according to the Definition of the Association of Influenza with the second calendar week in 2020”, – stated in the report.

More flu cases than last year

In the second week of January, the Robert Koch Institute already 2.821 influenza confirmed cases have been notified. More than twice as many as at the same time last year.

According to Section 7 paragraph 1 of the German infection protection act, all confirmed cases of Influenza must be reported to disease in particular.

Of the current disorders, 23 cases were since October fatal. In the same period of the last flu season there were eleven cases of Death in consequence of an Influenza disease.

A flu vaccination is now still useful?

Even if the recommended period for influenza vaccination is during October and November, could be made up of the vaccination to the beginning of the wave of Flu, such as the Robert Koch Institute telling.

“It should be the failure of the vaccination in these months, it may be in December, and even at the beginning or in the course of the flu wave is still useful, the vaccination of catching up to do. Finally, it is never accurately predict how long an influenza wave will last.“

The Vaccine is constructed ten to 14 days after vaccination completely. Those infected just before vaccination or before the protection is fully established on the flu virus, can become ill despite vaccination of the Influenza.
