Jenna Dewan Tatum’s Go-To Workout Is A Serious Sweat Session
Anyone who’s seen Step Up will know that Jenna Dewan Tatum has serious moves. Anyone who hasn’t needs to reassess their life and watch it ASAP.
It’s no surprise that the 36-year-old incorporates dance into her regular workouts. The mum-of-one recently posted a fun snippet of her latest sweat session on Instagram, captioning the video, “This is what a Sunday morning workout with @iamjjdancer looks like.”
Her trainer, dancer Jennifer Johnson, commented, “This mama works harder in 45 minutes than most do all week.”
But Jennifer’s JJ Dancer Technique isn’t just about busting a move, the celeb trainer also incorporates calisthenics, resistance bands, light weights, barre work and kickboxing for a fun full body workout. She works with Jenna around three to five times a week, as well as the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Alba and Olivia Munn.
“We start with a non-stop 30-minute dance warm-up,” Jennifer told Shape of her sessions with Jenna. “She knows a lot of routines from me, so I’ll call them out and she’ll start. It’s a ton of booty shaking! We mix in some drills too. Then we’ll change to some hip-hop music and move on to resistance bands. After that, we dig into some arms, mix in some kickboxing and punching, and move on to the ballet bar or mat. It’s a lot of combination moves and planking.”
“If I can get in a workout a few times a week, I’m happy. I like going to a fun, upbeat class with loud music, like dance cardio. I grew up dancing, so I generally push myself a bit harder when I’m around a crowd,” Jenna previously told Marie Claire
