How This Guy Cut Body Fat and Shredded His Abs in Just 2 Weeks
After letting his nutrition and training slide during the holidays, YouTuber Joe Delaney set himself a challenge to get back on track, lose some of the weight he had gained, and get as shredded as he possibly could in just 2 weeks.
This involved starting every day with 20 to 30 minutes of cardio on the treadmill, and upping his weight training to 5 or 6 sessions per week. Joe also started eating at a caloric deficit, taking around 600 calories off his usual daily intake of 3,000. This was broken down into approximately 180 grams of protein, 70 grams of fat, and around 260 grams of carbs, across 3 meals each day.
“My weight dropped down pretty fast in the first 3 or 4 days, as is to be expected really,” he says, “and then it levelled off and decreased much more gradually for the next 10 days.”
At the end of the challenge, he has lost 6 pounds, dropping from 177 to 171, and his physique shows a slight increase in definition, particularly in the abs, which are visibly more shredded. “I was pretty strict with these 2 weeks, probably the most regimented and accurate I have been with dieting for a long time,” he says. “But I think the reason I didn’t end up quite as shredded as I thought I would is because I was carrying a little bit more fat to begin with.”
In the same 2-week period, Joe’s body fat decreased from 14.9 percent to 13.7 percent, although he acknowledges that this reading may not be entirely accurate, and that body fat by itself is not an accurate indicator of personal fitness, as it varies from person to person.
“It’s more about being happy how you look rather than chasing some arbitrary figure,” he says.
