Simone Biles, 24, is taking fans along with her as she gears up to compete in the Tokyo Olympics. Whether she’s living her best life chilling with her boyfriend by the pool or glowing in a new no-makeup selfie, Simone is sharing all of her summer adventures over on her Instagram.
The gold-medal gymnast just posted another sneak peek at her day-to-day on her Instagram Story. In the photo, she poses for a selfie in a mirror while flashing her killer abs in a white crop top and black shorts. Even off the mat, Simone is killing it:
Ever wondered how an Olympic gymnast stays in such great shape between competitions? She told Women’s Health all the behind-the-scenes info about her super-strict training regimen. It’s no surprise that Simone’s days on the mat are long—usually five or six hours, at least.
But not all of those hours are spent on the mat, Simone said. Sometimes, the Olympian would mix up her workouts by including strength training or cross-training.
“We swam twice a week—almost a mile!” she told WH. “I swore I was going to drown, it was so hard, and then we would run. And the year before that we would bike 10 miles outside once a week. If we didn’t bike, we would run a mile before practice, and as soon as we finished the mile we’d have to go inside and do a beam routine. My legs were absolute jello.”
She also adjusts her diet as she goes throughout the day. She usually starts with a light breakfast (when she has the time!) of oatmeal or fruit and a protein shake after her first workout. “Usually I drink half after the first practice and half after the second practice. One of my favorite flavors at the moment is vanilla. It always changes, but it’s currently vanilla,” she told Women’s Health.
Lunch and dinner are a toss-up. Sometimes, Simone orders in healthy takeout. Other days, she chefs up a meal filled with protein, like chicken, and veggies.
“I feel like it’s more manageable because I can get home, shower, and go on the app to order whatever I want with the click of a button,” she said. “If I cook, though, it’s usually pasta, or chicken or salmon in the air fryer, oven, or on the grill.”
And her fave food of all time: “I love potatoes in any shape or form,” she told WH. Even Olympic athletes enjoy a good french fry. Who knew?
