Katy Perry’s Jet-Black Hair Made a Return For One Night Only

In the early days of Katy Perry's pop career, nearly jet-black hair was her go-to look (with the occasional colorful wig as an exception). In 2017, she abandoned the dark hair for a platinum blonde style that has since become her signature shade. Since then, she's flirted with color, like a bright pumpkin-orange wig, but she ultimately always returns back to that chic short blonde 'do. But those who've been missing her as a brunette will appreciate her latest Instagram posts, where the singer-songwriter shared the long, dark brown hair we haven't seen in so long.

Perry shared three photos and a seven-second video showcasing her nearly waist-length hair with the caption, "Mama has the night off so you get inches and @americanidol on @jimmykimmellive tonight ok ?♥️." Los Angeles-based stylist Jesus Guerrero is the mastermind behind the lengthy look. She paired her new hair with a gorgeous, maxi-length, butterfly-print dress with a slit that reaches mid-thigh.

Her hair looks blown out with a few waves running through it. The tendrils framing her face were curled with a bit more precision that gives her hair the perfect bounce, and the length creates a completely different vibe from the styles she's been wearing in recent years.

To complement the hair, Perry made sure to bring the glam. Makeup artist Michael Anthony gave the star a flawless beat with a wash of pink on her eyes, cheeks, and lips. Her brows are arched to perfection, and her lengthy lashes came prepared and on time for the party. (Michael, if you see this, share those falsies details, please and thank you.)

Though this is a welcome change, the star's short blonde hair was back in no time. On her Instagram Story, Perry shared a short clip showcasing her hair post-wig removal as she exclaimed, "Everything is fake!" Even if the dark hair wasn't here to stay, you know we're always ready for all the fun and drastic hair transformations Perry and other celebrities bring our way.
