Watch World-Class Powerlifters Go Head to Head With WWE Wrestlers
Powerlifter and multiple record-breaker Stefi Cohen is all about continually pushing herself, so it makes sense that she surrounds herself with some of the toughest gym buddies in the world. After working out with acrobatic bodybuilder Jujimufu and getting her pump on with former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall ahead of this year’s Arnold Classic, Cohen teamed up with WWE stars Sarah Logan and Raymond Rowe (better known as Erik, one half of the Viking Raiders) for a training session.
In a video filmed prior to lockdown, Cohen paid a visit to Logan’s Mad Max-inspired home gym, which she has dubbed “Thunderdome.” The space looks like something straight out of Game of Thrones; in addition to the usual gym equipment, it’s kitted out with a whole armory of Viking-inspired, historically accurate weaponry, including spears, axes and shields.
“I fight with two axes,” says Logan. “I fight with one that’s really long, to protect my legs, and one that’s short.”
Naturally, before any training can take place, some playing around with the weapons is needed. But safety comes first, and so Cohen puts on some chainmail and a metal helmet before letting Erik Rowe whack her over the head with the ax, creating an incredibly satisfying “ding” sound. She also does a quick set of barbell squats in her Viking getup first, to psych herself up; a new pre-event ritual, maybe?
Finally Cohen, Logan and Rowe put their shiny metal toys away, and get down to the reason they’re all there; showing off their exceptional strength, of course. Completing 10 to 15 reps of each movement, every minute on the minute, they hit up a series of back extensions, kettlebell burpees, pullups, and sandbag carries, completing three rounds of each.
