Chris Cuomo’s 14-Year-Old Son, Mario, Has Tested Positive for Coronavirus

Just days after Chris Cuomo emerged out of quarantine following a three-week battle with coronavirus, the CNN anchor’s wife, Cristina, announced that their 14-year old son has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in an emotional Instagram post.

“After 10 days of ups and downs, feeling good one-day and terrible the next, I am now working hard to get my son, Mario, through the virus,” Cristina wrote in a caption alongside some family photos. “My heart hurts more than my head over his infection.”

Cristina, who had also tested positive for COVID-19, said she is caring for Mario slightly differently than how she cared for herself. “I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins. Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared, I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch,” she wrote, adding that she’s keeping a diary of remedies to help her “stay sane through it all.”

On this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, show kindness toward our planet and every creature who inhabits it, as the transcendent photographer, adventurer, preservationist and raconteur Peter Beard advised us. My old friend’s recent death offers an eerily timely punctuation on this virus and a reminder that we can’t forget to protect one another, and the animals that roam the Earth. ??? This virus has created a different version of me. My hope is to be stronger, healthier, smarter about the virus at large. ???After 10 days of ups and downs, feeling good one-day and terrible the next, I am now working toward getting my son, Mario, through the virus. My heart hurts more than my head over his infection. This virus does not discriminate. While kids are more resilient, they can suffer same severity of symptoms. I’m applying a modified version of my remedies for his protocol with a focus on lots of vitamins. Since his sense of smell and taste have disappeared, I am feeding him healthy foods that I normally can’t get him to touch. I kept a diary of the past week including my remedies and things that I did to stay sane through it all. ? Link in bio, as they say.

Mario’s diagnosis comes a few days after Chris emerged from isolation after battling coronavirus in his basement. “This is what I’ve been dreaming of, literally, for weeks,” Chris said in a video shared to Instagram as he greeted his wife and kids.

While Chris suffered “maddening” symptoms of COVID-19, including fevers, rigors, extreme weight loss, and shortness of breath, his wife had “completely different symptoms” including sinus pain. “She doesn’t have a fever, she doesn’t have the symptoms anymore, she’s seven days from quarantine,” Chris said in the video. “We’re still a little scared so I’ll just give you one of these,” he added, waving at his family members instead of hugging them.

In a blog post on Cristina’s website, The Purist, she shared the naturopathic remedies she and Chris had followed, which included oxygenated herbs, vitamins, and an Ayurvedic diet. “I am committed to this naturopathic route more than ever. Support the immune system, not suppress it,” Cristina wrote in an Instagram post.

People flooded her recent Instagram post with well wishes for the Cuomo family. “Oh no, I pray your son is feeling better real soon❤️” one person wrote. “I am praying for a speedy recovery for Mario and you 🙏🙏🙏,” another added.

Cristina said coronavirus “created a different version” of herself. “My hope is to be stronger, healthier, smarter about the virus at large,” she said.
