Ro Huntriss – Dietician and nutritionist

How does Apple Cider Vinegar help weight loss?

Some studies have shown ACV can help people lose weight, but it is by no means set in stone.

Dietician and nutritionist Ro Huntriss said: “There are many claims regarding the health benefits of apple cider vinegar, including weight loss.

“Some claim that apple cider vinegar can reduce appetite and burn fat, but there is currently limited evidence to support this.

“Due to its acidic content, consumption of apple cider vinegar could also lead to throat irritation or erosion of tooth enamel.”

Meanwhile, some experts have found ACV can be successfully used for weight loss.

Dr Carol Johnston, associate director of the nutrition programme at Arizona State University, says it targets body fat.

She suggests adding a small amount to your diet to activate your metabolism so it uses fat as a form of energy instead of storing it.

According to Healthline, drinking ACV can help you consume fewer calories, which can lead to weight loss.

Nutrition website Organic Daily Post says: “There’s no set amount of apple cider vinegar dosage that you should be drinking for health benefits that you’re looking to get.

“Since there’s no hard and fast rule, most reputable sources recommend drinking about a teaspoon to a table spoon three times a day.
