Jennifer Garner's New Baby Food is Made With Squash From Her Mom's Farm

Jennifer Garner isn’t just the star of the 2005 superhero film Elektra, which, if you haven’t seen it, you absolutely need to (it’s basically the CATS of action movies). She’s also a passionate cook, and when she’s not cooking up a meal with culinary idol Ina Garten, she’s working on her line of organic baby food, Once Upon a Farm. Now, they’re releasing a product that’s near and dear to Garner’s heart — a squash pouch made with produce from the farm her mom grew up on.

The pouch is called Farmer Jen & the Giant Squash, and it contains organic koginut squash grown by her aunt and uncle in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. The recipe, which Garner developed on her own, also contains apples, dates, coconut milk, oats, and cinnamon.

Honestly, it sounds great. And we’ll be the first to admit that when we’re on the go, sometimes a “baby” food pouch full of organic goodness is just what our adult bodies need. There’s no shame in the squash pouch game here!

Garner says that the project means a lot to her mom. “Of anything I’ve ever done, this means the most to my mom — that her farm is being brought back to life, and it’s growing things for babies,” she told People.

Though mom isn’t directly involved in the farm, Garner’s aunt and uncle, Janet and Robert English, are the ones who are actually on the ground. They’ve rehabilitated the once-dormant farm, and now they’re the ones growing the koginut squash with love and care.

“My sweet uncle Robert said that the day the boxes of squash left the barn, he teared up,” said Garner. “He just couldn’t believe that they were really leaving. He said, ‘I just felt so nervous. Like are they going to drive carefully with them?’”

Apparently, the squash arrived at its destination safely, because now Farmer Jen & the Giant Squash is available online and in Erewhon Markets across Southern California. There’s a limited supply of this particular product since it was their first year raising the crop, but you can get other Once Upon a Farm Organics products at grocery stores across the country — just look in the refrigerated section.
