Oprah Winfrey Loves Pasta So Much, She Launched Her Own Frozen Skillets
Oprah Winfrey may have a chef who prepares meals for her, but that doesn’t mean Winfrey doesn’t step foot in her own kitchen. And when she does, she’s just like many of us: She wants to get in and out as quickly as possible. So it comes as no surprise the media mogul has added new frozen skillets to her O, That’s Good! line.
“It takes less than 10 minutes to make and dinner’s ready!” Winfrey wrote as the caption of an Instagram post she posted recently.
The new frozen skillets are touted as comfort food with a healthy twist. For example, the chicken alfredo meal substitutes cream with pureed cauliflower. The three other meals include sausage and rigatoni, vegetable tortellini, and garlic chicken and potatoes. Sure, the latter may include a starchy side, but Winfrey ensures during an interview with People that each helping has just five to seven Weight Watchers points.
“It’s convenient for people who want something delicious and want something healthy all in one skillet,” she says. “This is just the way I like to eat so we’re trying to create something for everybody.”
Speaking of the way she likes to eat, the frozen skillets embrace Winfrey’s ever-lasting love of carbs — particularly pasta — which she also tells People in an interview would be her last meal.
“If I were going to choose my last week, they would all be pastas,” she says.
But not just any pasta: pasta thrown into a skillet.
“It’s part of the life that I grew up with. When I grew up, tuna casserole was one of my favorite things in the world because you get all the stuff mixed together. And I’m one of those people who loves to mix all of my food together,” she says.
The new line of frozen skillets follows the release of Winfrey’s frozen cauliflower pizzas, which hit shelves last August also as part of her O, That’s Good! brand.
“Pizza is a favorite, fun and easy food to share with family and friends,” Winfrey said in a press release at the time. “I am always looking to add a nutritious twist to my foods, so we made part of the crust in my new pizza with cauliflower while maintaining that classic, cheesy pizza flavor you and your family love.”
The frozen skillets arrive in stores this fall and will be sold exclusively at Walmart.
