Elliot Page Showed Off His Six-Pack in a Shirtless Selfie on Instagram
Elliot Page is feeling himself, and it’s great to see. The 34-year-old Umbrella Academy star shared a shirtless selfie from his trailer on set on Friday, showing off his lean physique and visible six-pack on his IG Story. It’s the second time Page has indulged in the time-honored tradition of the gratuitous Instagram thirst trap , after proudly posting a photo of “trans bb’s first swim trunks” in May—but for the Canadian actor and activist, it’s about a lot more than just flashing his abs.
Page has previously spoken with great candor about the dysphoria he used to experience before coming out, and how following his gender-affirming top surgery earlier this year, he feels more comfortable in his own skin than he ever has before.
“It’s the little things,” he said in a groundbreaking recent interview with Oprah Winfrey. “Getting out of the shower and your towel is around your waist and you’re looking at the mirror and you’re just like, ‘Here I am’… Not having the moment where I’m panicked. I’m not having all of these little moments that used to be—just being in a T-shirt. Being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for probably the first time.”
Page came out as a transgender man who uses he/they pronouns on December 1, 2020, sharing a powerful letter with his social media followers in which he reflected on his own journey, as well as promising to use his platform to uplift the most vulnerable members of the LGBTQ+ community.
“I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life,” he wrote. “I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”
