E.L.F. Transformed Its Beloved Camo Concealer Into a CC Cream

At this point, I don't think there's a single beauty buyer on Earth who isn't familiar with E.L.F. Cosmetics's Camo Concealer. Whether or not you use it, you've undoubtedly heard praise for its smooth texture, full coverage, and accessible price point (probably on TikTok, where the brand's products frequently go viral). E.L.F. recently released its first sister product, Camo CC Cream, which has unsurprisingly already gone viral. That begs the obvious question: Is it worth the hype? I, a CC cream fiend, put it to the test to see how it compares to my other favorites.
This CC cream, which retails for $14, comes in 16 shades with varying depths and undertones. I'm on the fairest side of the spectrum with rosy undertones in most places and neutral undertones in others. I mixed the shades 120N and 150C to get a near-perfect match.
Because it's thicker and fuller-coverage than many other CC creams, I apply it more like a foundation than a skin-care product: I warm it up by rubbing it around the back of my hand, use my fingers to spread it across my face in sections, then blend those sections together with a fluffy, tapered brush like the Thrive Causemetics Diffusing Dome Blush Brush. This formula's buildable, so I'll repeat the process anywhere I need extra coverage (under my eyes, around my nose, and chin) instead of using concealer.
As you can tell, E.L.F. Camo CC Cream can’t magically make blemishes disappear — but it’s more than capable of covering dark circles and evening skin tone all on its own.
If you have skin that's on the oilier side, the matte finish of this CC cream is going to be a great fit for you. Otherwise, come prepared with very moisturized skin because you might find it drier than necessary for your skin type (which was my experience). No matter your skin type or how much you wear, though, you'll find that this CC cream is wildly comfortable — and only gets more so as the hours pass. That's probably because, like most other products in this category, it's packed with skin-friendly ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and glycerin. "Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin, [and] it helps to bind water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, so that skin can appear plumper, dewier, and more hydrated," Tsippora Shainhouse, a board-certified dermatologist in Santa Monica, California, previously explained to Allure. And that's just one of the powerhouse ingredients found in this formula.
E.L.F. Cosmetics CC Camo Cream
This isn't a product I'd use every day, solely because full-coverage and matte things just aren't my vibe, but I'll undoubtedly be using it on occasions I need something a little extra but don't want to sacrifice comfort. To my friends who do love full-coverage formulas, consider this viral product worth the hype.
E.L.F. Cosmetics's Camo CC Cream is $14 and available now on ulta.com and other E.L.F. retailers.
